Independent Oil Company, D.B.A. Dixie LP-Gas, has been providing Hill and the surrounding counties with all its petroleum needs for over 80 years. Founded in 1922, Odis "Dolly" Gray joined the company as a bookkeeper. Over the years, as the owners of the company retired, Odis purchased their interest in the company. In 1944, Odis branched the company out into the butane business. In 1968, Odis's son, Lynn, joined his father in the business upon graduation from college. In 1970, Lynn incorporated the business in the name of Independent Oil Company d.b.a. Dixie LP-Gas. In 1993, Crain Oil merged with Independent Oil and opened Fuel-Mart. Fuel-Mart is a 24 hour security fuel system located at 101 Stadium Drive in Hillsboro. In December of 1996, Lynn's son, Chad, joined the business upon graduation from college. In July of 2001, Dixie Wireless was formed as an exclusive agent for Cingular Wireless and operates at the same location.
Independent Oil Company - Dixie LP-Gas is in its third generation of family ownership and is the oldest family-owned propane business in Central Texas. We still offer a wide variety of petroleum products such as propane, gasoline, diesel, K-1 kerosene and naphtha.
